Because I know me

because I know me
and the monster beneath my skin
I decided to start this spring
crawling in a new recipient
leaving behind  my old skins
bright new I jumped to the conclusion
that the beast within had melted in the shades

because I know me
and all the other monsters around
I slip under a rock
just in case a thunder will burn all the skinless
creatures playing hide and seek
in the tall grass of this spring

Wonderful writing. I love the understanding that we must be wary of being complacent.
